A Creative Mind Never Really Takes a Day Off!
Share
Have you ever been right in the middle of doing one thing when another idea suddenly pops into your head?
And before you know it, you're thinking about three other things you want to try!
Welcome to my world! 😂
I don't know about you, but sometimes I think my creative mind has a mind of its own. I can be thinking about making soap one minute, designing a personalized gift the next, and then suddenly I'm wondering what a new journal cover would look like.
And don't even get me started on all the things I want to learn!
There just aren't enough hours in the day for all these ideas!
It All Starts with "What If?"
I've always loved creating things with my hands.
When I started making soap back in 2007, I had no idea just how many creative doors would eventually open for me.
What started with soapmaking grew into bath and body products, personalized gifts, custom apparel, journals, books, home décor, and so many other creative interests.
And you know what? I still get excited about learning something new.
I think that's one of the beautiful things about creativity. There's always another technique to explore, another design to imagine, or another skill waiting to be learned.
Sometimes all it takes is one little thought:
"What if I tried this?"
And just like that, another idea is born!
The Problem with Having Too Many Ideas
Now, having a creative mind is wonderful, but let's talk about the other side of it.
Sometimes we get so excited about everything we could do that we have trouble deciding what to do first.
Sound familiar?
You start one project, think of something else, and suddenly you're planning your next creation before you've finished the first one.
And if you're anything like me, the list of things you want to create keeps getting longer.
But here's something I've come to appreciate.
Not every idea has to become a project today.
Some ideas can wait until tomorrow. Some might be perfect for next month. And others might turn into something completely different down the road.
That doesn't make them any less valuable.
Learning to Enjoy the Process
One thing I'm learning is that creativity doesn't always have to be about producing something.
Sometimes it's about experimenting.
Sometimes it's about making mistakes and figuring out what went wrong.
And sometimes it's simply about enjoying the process without worrying about whether the finished product will be perfect.
I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to accomplish things that we forget to enjoy what we're doing.
And what's the point of having a creative passion if we never give ourselves permission to have fun with it?
A Little Advice from One Creative Mind to Another
If you're someone who has a hundred ideas floating around in your head, here's a little encouragement.
Write them down.
Keep a notebook, a journal, or even a note on your phone where you can save those ideas for another day.
Then choose one thing to work on.
Just one.
Give yourself time to enjoy it without feeling guilty about everything else waiting on your list.
And remember, you don't have to turn every hobby into a business or every creative idea into something you sell.
Sometimes creating something simply because it makes you happy is reason enough.
From My Heart to Yours
Whether you enjoy crafting, cooking, gardening, writing, decorating, or trying something completely new, I hope you never lose that little spark of curiosity.
Keep asking questions.
Keep trying new things.
Keep learning.
And if your creative mind happens to come up with five new ideas while you're working on one?
Well, grab that notebook and write them down! 😂
The ideas will still be there when you're ready.
Until next time, keep creating, keep smiling, and remember to enjoy the journey.
With love and creativity,
In-Dea ❤️

Are you the kind of person who finishes one project before starting another, or do you have several projects going at once?
I'd love to hear which one you are!
